Beacon Drive
Biography
Beacon Drive is a classic rock band covering the best songs from the 70s & 80s through today. Cool vocal harmonies, strong guitar licks and full-tilt, rock-infused instrumentation captivate audiences of all ages.
Beacon Drive was founded several years ago by church musicians needing to free their inner rock stars between Sundays. After mastering a few favorite songs, they decided to start performing and quickly gained a following.
The six band members include Ken Lewellen on lead guitar and vocals, Dan Johnson on keyboards, Boyd Murphy on percussion, John Kidd on bass guitar, Scott Pennington on vocals and Dana Schuler Drummond as lead vocals.
The broad vocal range and style of the band allow them to play songs from many favorite artists, including the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, The Jackson Five, Doobie Bros., Blondie, Heart, Supertramp and more. Fan favorites include Janis Joplin’s "Me & Bobby McGee," Don Henley’s "Heart of the Matter," and the classic "I Hear You Knockin'."
In March 2011, Beacon Drive released its first single, “People Get Ready,” on ITunes and Amazon.com. The release may lead listeners to think Beacon Drive is a jazzy, Motown-inspired band. But Beacon Drive's second release, a fearless cover of Heart's "Barracuda," shows they can deliver a screaming rock tune equally well.
Whether an audience wants to dance and sing along, listen intently or just relax and enjoy a classic rock atmosphere, Beacon Drive delivers.
